Different areas of Dental Intelligence track Hygiene Visit metrics in slightly different ways. Here’s how the Daily Report, Performance Board, and Provider Pulse determine what counts as a Hygiene Visit and how to access those metrics.

Daily Report Hygiene Visit Metric

The Daily Report only includes appointments where a Hygienist is listed as the provider when calculating the following metrics:

  • Hygienists’ Gross Production

  • Hygienists’ Net Production per Visit

  • Hygienists’ Re-Appointment %

Important: These metrics are based on the Hygienist role designation assigned to a user — not just the ADA codes attached to the appointment. If the provider is not set up with the Hygienist role, that appointment’s data won’t appear in these metrics.

To access the Daily Report, click Reports > General Reports in the left menu navigation.

Performance Board Hygiene Visit Metric

The Performance Board identifies Hygiene Visits based on the ADA codes assigned to the appointment. An appointment counts as a Hygiene Visit if it includes any of the following codes: D1110, D1120, D4341, D4342, D4355, D4910, D4921, D4999, D6080, D4646, and D6081.

To access the Performance Board:

  1. Hover over the Dashboard icon in the left side navigation bar

  2. Click Performance Board from the dropdown menu

Provider Pulse Hygiene Visit Metric

The Provider Pulse identifies Hygiene Visits based on the ADA codes that were walked out on the ledger. It uses the same codes as the Performance Board: D1110, D1120, D4341, D4342, D4355, D4910, D4921, D4999, D6080, D4646, and D6081.

To access the Provider Pulse:

  1. Hover over the Dashboard icon the left side navigation bar

  2. Click Provide Pulse from the dropdown menu

  3. Click on the Hygiene section to review the available metrics available in the dropdown menu

Why Using ADA Codes Is Essential for Accurate Data

Accurate data starts with accurate coding. Using the correct ADA codes for every appointment and procedure ensures that all your metrics, reports, and insights in Dental Intelligence are reliable — and it’s also a legal requirement for billing.

Best Practices for Using ADA Codes

  • Use the correct ADA codes for every service provided.

  • Add ADA codes when scheduling — don’t wait until after the appointment. This ensures your schedule, production, and reports stay accurate from the start.

Why It Matters

Attaching ADA codes to appointments helps Dental Intelligence correctly categorize and calculate your key metrics:

  • Visits are accurately classified as Hygiene, Restorative, or Miscellaneous.

  • My Schedule and the Morning Huddle assign visits to the correct provider.

  • Scheduled Production functions as designed.

  • Hygiene Re-Appointment and Pre-Appointment percentages track accurately.

  • Treatment Acceptance and Case metrics calculate correctly.

  • Hygiene Recare (for both Perio and Prophy patients) correctly recognizes if a patient is scheduled.

In short — using ADA codes correctly keeps your data clean, your insights accurate, and your practice running smoothly.
